Review on Fluke 323 KIT Multimeter Clamp Measuring & Layout Tools by Meechie Camlin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fluke quality - basically.

I'm an electrician specializing in troubleshooting and repairing things that others can't. I earn money with my test devices. 117 is incredible. This is absolutely my favorite general purpose multimeter. It's not an 87V model, nor is it one of the pricier models, but it's a solid meter that gets reliable readings quickly. It's actually significantly better than its nominal accuracy and accuracy as tested with my desktop HP gauge. Can't think of anything bad to say about it other than that the capacitance function is only up to 1000uF and it's hard to read with the backlight on the screen at 30+ degrees above (not below for some reason). The 117 has a low impedance voltage function which is fantastically useful. I wouldn't buy a multimeter without the low voltage Z function. The autorange and continuity beep is very fast. The supplied cables are of excellent quality. The adjustable shroud with latches for different CAT ratings is a cool feature. Minus: 323 is indeed a toy. The case feels cheap and slippery. The rotary switch is fine, but the latch isn't as firm as I'd like. It doesn't have any particularly useful features other than a clamp meter. It doesn't have a min/max function, which is a major disadvantage. Measuring inrush current at power-up is one of the most common applications for current clamps. It has no backlight and no option to add a hanging strap. 323 stays in the truck. My small clamp meters are used much more than the 323. However, with this kit you get the 323 at a significant discount. If you don't have another clamp meter or need a replacement, it may be worth purchasing this kit. The supplied magnetic suspension for 117 is of good quality. Very strong magnet and good length The case that comes with it is cheap but that's more or less to be expected. It's at least a little soft and the right size for a pair of wire pairs, both gauges and leads.

Pros
  • The 323 clamp meter measures 400A AC and 600V AC/DC
Cons
  • Hard to say
