Review on πŸ”§ Dorman CC649041 Clutch Combination: Master Slave Cylinder Assembly for Efficient Performance by John Roby

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Fits a 1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ perfectly, but didn't solve my hard shifting problem for which I bought it.

Shipped in a box 8 times the size required for shipping. First, the manufacturer puts the product in the box 2 times longer than necessary. There was no safety mechanism in this box to prevent the rather fragile knot from slipping and being bumped inside during the S&H. Seriously, this thing could fit in a roughly 5 x 20 x 20 inch box. Second, Revain's outer shipping carton was 15" x 20" x 40", exactly four times the size of the manufacturer's carton. He delivered the USPS and probably took half the truck. I'm really surprised that the item didn't arrive damaged. There are no instructions aside from the lack of protective packaging, but I knew what to do after watching a few YouTube videos about it. After unpacking, I was convinced that the tube was not the right one. shape for my car, but after removing the old one and threading the new one through my engine bay's wiring, pipes and components, it fit perfectly. I recommend running the slave cylinder down through the engine bay to the exhaust pipe, then to the flare it attaches to and adjusting the heat shield on the plastic pipe to give maximum protection from the heat of the adjacent exhaust pipe. Bolt the slave cylinder to the bell body FIRST (1/2" nuts), then the master cylinder to the firewall SECOND (14mm nuts). I accidentally pressed the clutch pedal and tore the thin white plastic tie holding the slave cylinder piston in a holds compressed position.Bell body but still workable. The touch switch now connects to the new drive arm and through the firewall to the new master cylinder and attaches to the clutch pedal arm with a lousy thin cheap black plastic clip that is designed to be very easy to use can attach to the drive arm a pin on the pedal arm it technically works and easy to fit but I don't think it will last long I will consider putting a cotter pin there to keep the 2 hand locked in place FWIW this clip has the same design as the original which was also broken before i tore it down this bad design annoys me ch. I give 2 stars for the poor packaging and a cheap black plastic clip. Note: My stock master and slave cylinders are plastic while Dorman's are metal, aluminum may not help as a magnet. stick with it. Unfortunately, and it's probably not the fault of the part or the manufacturer, this partial shifter didn't solve my hard shifting problem, which I bought it for (and didn't change the gear oil, which I did this past weekend), so it's starting to look like I might need to re-track my transmission.
