I found this device very useful. It can be set to turn on for a set amount of time to minimize UV exposure on fingers while curing the gel nail polish. The backlight only comes on when there is something under the sensor. We've found this to be a handy feature for projects using UV cured resin as well. Just set the timer to the right time for your resin, place the item in the lamp and your hands are free to work on another project/item in your project while the current one cures! This worked VERY well to create contrasting colored numbers in epoxy dice that had number indentations.
