Review on Secure Your Gear With Faswin'S Set Of 4 Stainless Steel Spring Snap Hooks (3 Inches) by Mark Bishop

Don’t use for weight bearing

I bought these because they are listed as stainless steel and have ratings of supporting 440 lbs. I planned to use them for a gym cable machine setup that I am building. I would have used weight up to maybe 225 lbs. I decided to test them before setting them up in the gym. I connected a 1/8” steel cable to the carabiner and clipped the carabiner to the wall. I then pulled on the cable pretty hard and the carabiner bent wide open. I’m in pretty good shape but I sure as heck can’t pull with 400+ pounds of force. On top of being weak and not being able to support weight, there is no way these are stainless steel. They feel like straight aluminum. Very light and have a plastic type of feel to them. They feel like the cheap tent stakes that bend in half when you hammer them into the ground. These would be fine for edc use or to clip to a backpack for a water bottle or something but don’t make the mistake of thinking these will support a few hundred pounds.

Pros
  • Perfect for holding the chain link gates closed at Utopia Ranch.
Cons
  • They may not be easy to store
