Review on 🌬️ Temtop LKC 1000E: Advanced Air Quality Monitor for Formaldehyde and Particle Levels by Daryl Fitch

Revainrating 5 out of 5

1 year 9 months update: STILL GREAT! AND DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

We bought this in November 2018. We've been using it ever since. I've taken it with me when I travel and I've always known the quality of our local air better than usual. We've compared our Temptop sensor to many other sensors in our community. RESULTS: This device is as accurate as we need it to be. For example, many terrible fires here in California are causing bad air conditions. Several neighbors have invested in Purple Air (PA) monitors (pretty cool). You can see their statements on the PA website. So while we can look at this map to see the state of the air in our community, I've also visited all three local PA locations (and actually spoke to one of them!). I compared the readings from our Temtop handheld meter to the readings from their website - and all the readings are close - about plus or minus 5 in PM2.5 µg/m3 readings. (This is very good for the current conditions of day and night fluctuations from 100 to even as high as 300!). was in sync with the neighbors). Good confirmation. The advantage of this counter is that I can also take it inside. We checked our indoor spaces and even the air quality in each room. (We are now slightly higher than usual with PM2.5 between 14.7 and 16 µg/m3 internal, but that is much better than now outside the 199-252 range). In our backyard shed (no air purifiers, but with windows and doors closed about 145 µg/m3). For us, therefore, a reliable, versatile measuring device that we can use anywhere. The price was also quite reasonable. All of this from the original review is still true. Fast delivery pleasantly surprised! 2. Packaging: Excellent premium packaging and easy to read instructions. The counter came with a low charge (1/4); but I charged it to less than ¼ full in less than two hours. It uses simple USB charging and comes with a cable but no wall adapter.3. Product Quality and Description: This is a pretty high quality. It has a 1½ inch x 2 inch color LCD display that is very clear and easy to read both indoors and outdoors in sunlight and at night. The meter has a stand on the back so you can place it on a table conveniently and stably. Very convenient. The meter has an off button (no timeout!) surrounded by four selection buttons (PM2.5, AQI, HCHO, hold/start measurement). Very easy and very convenient.3. Operation: The meter runs continuously until the Pause button is pressed, then pressing the Resume button restarts the current measurement functions. This means you can "freeze" the readings to take notes. In addition to providing numeric data on the readings taken, the meter also provides a summary panel at the bottom containing ratings of the readings (good, safe, uncertain, fair, etc.). 4. A. Reliability of readings a problem At the moment I only have direct access to THIS sensor I compared it to Purple Air's online sensor in another part of town and this sensor showed about 28% less than the other sensor I recommend, six Waiting hours for all shipping and packaging residue to dissipate before taking the readings (I couldn't wait! 😊)b I also noticed that the outdoor readings were the same in different areas. When I drove about a mile and then compared it to the air readings in my area, the results were the same. Also, the readings were different inside and out - and this meter was very sensitive to what changes as you move from a filtered environment to an open/unfiltered location.5. There's no calibration function or hardware in this meter, but given the (excellent) price, that's not surprising. At the end I will make a methodical comparison with a calibrated air sensor and then I can supplement this assessment with additional information. All in all, on a relative scale, at least on this gauge, it seems very responsive and consistent. It is very easy to use; and I'm glad I bought it.
