Review on 🎨 Liquitex Basic Gesso Surface Prep Medium, 128-oz (Gallon), White by Lori Aguirre

This is a must-have for any painter; be it hobby, student or even professional use. Even if I've bought primed or unprimed canvas, I always apply an extra coat or two of this gesso as it prepares the surface for better paint adhesion. It has a very fine grainy texture, but between coats it can be gently sanded with wet or dry 400 grit sandpaper. This makes your canvas or other support very smooth, which is very important, especially to help you see the finest details achieve in your work. . . Exception. I believe that buying a student class can be a waste of money just because it isn't great quality, resulting in you ending up buying both (or at least I did because I want my job to be the best , which can exist). So I bought a smaller 8 ounce bottle of Liquitex Artist's Gesso (maybe around the same price, I'm not sure) and when it ran out I replaced it with Basics due to the much lower price. I honestly can't tell a huge difference! I find the professional formula to be more opaque and a bit thicker and I love that you can also choose black or clear formula in this range but for a standard base product that every artist needs; there is not that much difference. I will continue to buy Basics Gesso. However, I will try Liquitex Professional Clear soon as it might be a good idea to cover my line art. In the meantime I am really positively surprised by this product and can only recommend it. BTW, my Royal & Langnickel Gesso brushes in the picture were also purchased from Revain. They were great buys too.
