Pretty much the same type of cleated shoes that you can buy at your local bike shop and do what they are supposed to do. They only come with base cleats, which I personally thought required the pedals to be in a loose position for them to engage. However, they function like any other brand; Find and secure a position, and tilt your feet so they come off the pedals. The shoes themselves are comfortable. I have one with a twist knob for tightening or loosening, and they tighten to the point where they just fit snugly around your legs. Like any other cleated shoe, they're not designed for regular outings, but I hope you plan on cycling with the right pedals anyway. If you're thinking of wearing clip earrings or just want a different pair, give them a try. They don't disappoint.
