I bought this to hang a 32" 1080 TV and use it as a monitor for my laptop. Since the 32-inch TV is large, I wanted it to be out of the way when I'm not using it at home by placing it against the wall. It definitely feels solid and heavy. I wondered how he could handle himself. But after screwing 4 screws into the rack in vertical position, it is very tight on the wall. I bought this one that stretches 24 inches and paid about $10 to $15 more than its counterparts to get an extra 6 inches. This can work with at least 32 inches. Anything smaller and the mounts are visible from behind. The range movement is great. A little stiff at first but it gets a little better. My TV is 100mm x 100mm VESA. It kind of worked, I'll explain more. Wire terminals do their job well. The various tilts and slight rotations do a great job of keeping the TV monitor in a perfectly horizontal position. For installation they supply some spacers to keep the screws from going too deep and damaging the TV. Use spacers strategically. The best part for me is that I wish I had something that could be expanded even more without overpaying $100, but with this unit you install brackets on the TV and then clamp and hang on the base plate bracket and screw them firmly at the bottom, to keep them in place and not fall off accidentally. However, since the brackets hang from the bottom plate, it can slide an additional 6 inches from side to side, which elongates it even more for me. It may depend on your TV or monitor, but it worked for me. The only thing I have, and legally, is that the screws attaching the brackets to my VESA TV don't fit. My TV requires narrower screws that were not supplied with this unit. I don't know if this company left out all 100mm VESA TV screws or if TCL made the screw holes too small, I don't know.
