I made a terrible mistake planting Clerodendrum indicum in the ground. I knew it was invasive, but they put him in a box surrounded by concrete on all sides. Little did I know the roots would work their way under a 6 inch concrete slab and grow 20 feet away! I immediately took it out of the ground, but I couldn't get all the roots, so more shoots emerged. I've tried everything I can think of to kill the roots without damaging other plants near the emerging shoots, but to no avail. . I had the idea of using these tubes with herbicide inside and damn it looks like it works! I simply stick the cut end of the herb into the cap, fill the tube with pure herbicides and attach it to the cap. It doesn't leak, so it's safe to use near the plants you want. Simply cut the stem of the offending plant at an angle just below the leaf node. I take a #2 pencil and stick it in the hole in the cap to "relax" it and make it easier to insert the core.
