My apartment has a small shaded terrace on the second floor which I have "decorated" with large pots of ferns. There is a squirrel that lives in a tree off my street, apparently within easy leap of a branch, that has developed a tendency to bury nuts in the soil of my pots. Every time I went out into the patio, there were ruined ferns and mounds of earth everywhere. This product solved the problem: I cut strips with scissors and placed them around the soil in the pots (around the stems of the plants). No more buried nuts. However: It is tedious to install as the material does NOT lay flat. I had to get landscape fabric tacks (you know, those U-shaped metal latches) from my local garden center to secure each strip around the edges. If you want to use it, you *have* to buy these pegs (or other anchoring devices) and *have* to set them above ground (large pots, beds). You CANNOT use it on your couch or in your car as the product description suggests - it is misleading. However, it was easy to cut and 100% solved my problem (the low brown spikes are not visible under the fern leaves on the ground so it doesn't spoil the landscape).
