Review on Bilstein 24 238281 4600 Shock Absorber by Muhammad Balding

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Some old stock may still be made in the US. New Made in Mexico.

I recently ordered 2 front Bilsteins for my 2017 Silverado. The shocks were shipped in flimsy shelf crates for storage. Numerous holes and the inability of the boxes to keep their shape during transport. I had to send them back immediately. Instead, I opened up and hoped the shocks would be okay. First impression was that they were acceptable. When I took a closer look, I found that even though they had the same part number, they were different. Various exterior details. Then I noticed that one was assembled in the US and the other in Mexico. The US muffler had the best exterior parts of the two. I can only assume that this also applies to the internals. Goodbye Bilstein, it's been a nice long journey, over 30 years in trucks and cars. But every journey has to end. I'll ride with someone else from here.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Big and bulky
