Buy the best flint and steel.

I recently bought a couple of flint rods to choose what I like best. This one is my favourite. It slides together to protect the flint and steel is included so you don't need to use a knife or other object to create a spark. This thing makes a great spark on wet or dry fuel. When submerged in water, all you have to do is blow it out with your mouth to make the flint half dry and you're back in business. I use jute twine dipped in paraffin wax as the tinder and it forms a nice flame that lasts about a minute which should be enough to start a fire. Jute twine soaked in wax is also waterproof. These items can be purchased in the hobby shop. I uploaded a video about it.
