UPDATED: I've added a photo to this post after being completely and utterly abused by my cat for 6 months. I also just ordered a new one, I am so pleased with the performance and durability. This is exactly what you should expect from a scratching post in this price range. My kitty got the ball off the main perch before I could toss the empty box in the bin. The sisal rope is 1/8" instead of the standard 1/2" and the rug is a rug in name only. The base is too small and light which causes my kitty to tip or tip over during use. Despite what I wrote above, I am very satisfied with this purchase. I didn't want to spend a lot of money only to find that my cat wouldn't use it and would instead constantly scratch my furniture. I am happy to report that my cat loves this item and I have ordered a much better one to replace it.
