Basically this scope has a great zoom and brightness, especially for the price. Unfortunately, the positives almost end there. The optical quality for this magnification is relatively poor. Chromatic aberration is pretty bad after a medium zoom (which is to be expected at this level, and the zoom lacks glass performance). Plus, that volume is HUGE. Most people don't pay attention to the size of the product, but this thing is HUGE. Definitely need a sturdy tripod (a decent camera tripod will work). Since this thing has a lot of zoom, it shakes and wobbles a lot, making it impossible to get a clear picture with the included tripod. The main deciding factor is what you're going to use it for. I would say this is a mediocre scope (which is why I bought it). I think binoculars for identifying objects/targets would probably work. Conclusions: Great zoom, HUGE range, mechanical optics, and you need a good tripod to use it effectively.
