Review on 🏠 The Original Radon/Sump Dome: Effective and Reliable (Model: SMR16101-CV) by Mikey Jackson

The best radon protection on Amazon.

If you have a wet septic tank in your basement, even without a pump in it, you need to seal it airtight. Chances are, radon will be absorbed in your home. Clothes dryers, bathroom exhaust fans, range hoods, and even HVAC return air ducts are the culprits for this radon release. The first step to stopping radon infestation in the basement is to caulk those sumps as well as any pipes and power cords coming out of the sump - this cover does just that. It comes with all the caps, gaskets and gaskets you need may need. You should glue this cover base to the floor by finding the exit point of the plumbing and radon/sewer gas pipes and centering it over the existing pan. Then, with a large marker, mark the parameter and where the holes for the bolts/screws will go. Once you've marked the holes for the screws, drill 1 1/2" deep holes using a rotary hammer and a 1/4" masonry bit (the bit comes with the Tapcon anchor kit). Sweep up the concrete dust and wipe this socket with a damp cloth to ensure there is no dust on it and place a healthy bead of expanded silicone clay just inside the mark made earlier. There is no seal between the base and the concrete surface, so caulk it to prevent the radon from escaping this area. Remember there is a pre-punched hole in the base to drain your stove/AC condensate (about the size of a garden hose). So when you don't use it, you have to cover this hole. The cover comes with pre-punched holes for radon fan hoses and water pump hoses, with adapters for standard sizes. They also provide 4 extra acorn nuts in case you smash one into the pan and can't find it. If installing a large cover gasket, place it upside down on the underside of the cover and insert eight stainless steel screws through the cover into the gasket prior to installation. This will hold the gasket in place and align it with the nut holes. The lid attaches to a larger base and uses no silicone, just a gasket. Remove the protective film from the viewing window before installing the cover. Ventilate the basement and check the radon level again after about a week. You may not need any additional mitigation measures if you've properly sealed that awkward swamp.
