Required for console port in Cisco switches etc. Using PuTTY (COM3 9600 8n1 serial port without flow control) for configuration. The main problem was getting the W10 to install the correct ch340 driver for the serial chip being used, but this is not insurmountable for a user familiar with working with serial devices. I think the PCI/Vendor substring used by Windows to find the correct driver is not formatted correctly or in the database, but I got it working anyway. It just didn't go quite so well when my included driver DVD broke while traveling for months and I later had to use it on another laptop. It's a little weird finding the driver, but once the ch340 is installed and ready, it works again.
