worked in a VERY strange environment. So I created a virtualized environment for a friend. They're working on LLCLLDDD shit and need a series of many versions. Using Oracle VB I have created several virtual machines from DOS 6.22, Win98SE, NT4 and XP. The host laptop had Win10 Pro installed with drivers installed. After setting up the Oracle USB Extension Pack for Virtual Box and configuring the hypervisor to pass this USB serial port as its own serial port on COM1, this device worked with ANYโ€ฆ

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • makes me angry

Don't buy if your host client is running Linux.

Although it is well known that Linux-based systems are the predominant operating system in environments where you use managed enterprise-based routers (should be in enterprise class), the designer of this router could not find any suitable Offer drivers for Linux. They offer Linux drivers as RPM packages for Red Hat Linux, but Red Hat is no longer the dominant OS among IT professionals. They also offer drivers for Windows and I don't know of any IT pro who uses Windows on their workstations orโ€ฆ

Works but with some limitations

Got this cable to connect to Oracle Database Appliance. The package arrived on time and in new condition. When I first tried to connect to my servers, I couldn't connect. At first I thought the cable might be bad, so I plugged it into the spare network switch I had. My switch had no problem connecting to my laptop. OK. Return to square one. After playing around with my laptop and server transfer speeds AND after downloading the new Proliant cable drivers, I was finally able to connect to myโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Required for console port in Cisco switches etc. Using PuTTY (COM3 9600 8n1 serial port without flow control) for configuration. The main problem was getting the W10 to install the correct ch340 driver for the serial chip being used, but this is not insurmountable for a user familiar with working with serial devices. I think the PCI/Vendor substring used by Windows to find the correct driver is not formatted correctly or in the database, but I got it working anyway. It just didn't go quite soโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive insurance
