it is troublesome to operate. I used a center punch to keep the bit in line as it's designed like a mini crown. If you're willing to spend months drilling just 50 spot welds, then go for it. Carbide bits seem good, they bite and cut well, especially if you use some cutting oil. The problem is the sprung center that is supposed to keep everything in order. I even tried tightening the hex screw on the end to increase the tension on the spring, hoping the drive pin tip would stay in the punch mark. nope If you spend time with it, you can get some good cuts out of this beat. But nobody wants to spend time being overly careful just to drill spot welds. This should pass quickly. So I posted pictures of two different types of spot weld cutters. The photos speak for themselves. In the second photo a high speed cobalt nozzle for spot welding. You can see it cuts a lot cleaner than those stupid things.
