I needed this to upgrade a graphics card (Radeon VII) that only has 3 DisplayPort outputs and one HDMI output. I have an "old" QNIX (Samsung) IPS panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 at 90 Hz via DVI-D only. I decided to give this adapter a try instead of buying a new 1440p high refresh rate monitor ($500) with a DisplayPort input. The adapter works great. It's like my new graphics card has a dual-link DVI-D connector. I had an odd issue where the display worked but was covered in a layer of static/blurr/noise, whatever you want to call it. I had to disable HDCP support (HDMI connection status monitoring) in the Radeon settings to fix this issue. I think this is an AMD specific issue, or maybe just the Radeon VII. I hope this information helps someone solve their problem as it took me weeks of research and troubleshooting to figure this out.
