144 Hz at its best

I recently upgraded my computer with a new graphics card. It doesn't have a DVI-D port, which I knew about before I bought it, but I figured I could play games at 60fps until I made plans to buy a new monitor later this year. Note; I was NOT okay. My BenQ XL2411 monitor lacks DisplayPort, so I needed a way to convert DP to DVI-D. Did a lot of research and settled on this $100 adapter. I was concerned that no other cables or adapters would help as it seems you need this "active" adapter to get…

Add over $100 to the price of your new graphics card

I needed this to upgrade a graphics card (Radeon VII) that only has 3 DisplayPort outputs and one HDMI output. I have an "old" QNIX (Samsung) IPS panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 at 90 Hz via DVI-D only. I decided to give this adapter a try instead of buying a new 1440p high refresh rate monitor ($500) with a DisplayPort input. The adapter works great. It's like my new graphics card has a dual-link DVI-D connector. I had an odd issue where the display worked but was covered in a layer of…

HDCP Compliant - Static

If you are using an NVIDIA graphics card and are looking for a product like this to support your dual link DVI monitor from a card that now has no DVI output, keep it Please note that this will be registered as an active repeater. You can see this throws a yellow flag in the HDCP status in the Nvidia Control Panel. This works on a technical level, but some programs or websites that monitor HDCP digital copyright compliance will detect that the display you are using this with is not compliant…

Works with 30 " Apple Cinema Display!

Finally! a DisplayPort to DVI adapter that drives an old school 2560x1600 movie display. I put the adapter in my evga 1080 graphics card plugged in, plugged the USB power dongle into the USB port on the back of my computer, then plugged the monitor cable into the adapter and SUCCESS! The cinema monitor now appears in my display settings (right click on the desktop to open ) in the attached image, the right Apple Cinema Display is connected directly to the graphics card, while the left display…

Displayport must be a SOURCE, NOT BIDIRECTIONAL

I've been on a crazy journey to find a solution to convert a dual link DVI SOURCE (graphics card) to HDMI or Displayport (monitor ) to convert at 2560 x 1440 60 hertz. Basically an old computer and a new monitor. In short, I don't think there is a product for that. This Startech DP2DVID2 definitely does NOT. As a gift to anyone trying this, I found the following: - DVI DUAL Link supports 2560x1440@60Hz, 2560x1600@60Hz. DVI SINGLE channel DOES NOT support these resolutions. Single link DVI only…
