I bought this electric grinder to replace a manual grinder (which doesn't work so well for my elderly parents with arthritis). However, it has exceeded all of my expectations and has become the number one shredder in our home. We've used it to grind garlic, herbs, chilies etc and it's always done a good job of grinding food into a fine mince. The grinder is small, light and very easy to use. You just have to put the top on and it will fit by itself. The operation requires no manual force. You just need to press the power button and lightly hold the chopper. It's perfect for my parents compared to manual shredders that require some force. We use the chopper for all of our cooking sessions and have not had any battery drain issues so far. We usually charge it after we finish cooking. Cleaning is easy too, as the engine compartment is sealed except for the charging port, which is fitted with a rubber cap. As long as you don't submerge it in water, you should be fine. Overall this is a great shredder and at around $10 I would not recommend it!
