Review on Command Picture Hanging Indoor 17213 ES: Hassle-Free Wall Decor Solutions by John Murphy

The failure rate makes them unreliable.

They're great and useful when they work. Following T's instructions, using them even on items well under the weight limit, or overdoing it with too many stripes can be a success or a failure. I have used many of these throughout the house rather than drilling permanent holes in the wall. Removing them is easy, and as long as it's done right, it hasn't damaged my walls or items. Most won't fall off on their own, but some will fall off. In these cases, I believe the glue is the weak point. No Velcro, but a sticky adhesive part that sticks to objects and walls. It sticks for a while and then eventually decides it doesn't want to stick anymore. This sticky adhesive part is the weak link in this product. If it wasn't for that, it would be a 5 star product. Finally, the failure rate makes them unreliable. Updated to add: The sticky adhesive strip that sticks to the wall will become brittle over time. You have to stretch it parallel to the wall to slowly loosen it from the wall - like stretching chewing gum - without damaging the wall, but when it gets old and brittle it just tears apart and is almost impossible to remove without it. some wall damage. So too bad.
