Review on ๐Ÿงช Efficient Coolant Testing with Robinair 75134 Econo-Clean - 50 Piece Test Strip Kit by Mark Caperton

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Works for freezing/boiling, pH is totally unreliable.

Freeze/Boil point works well. The alkalinity reserve test was performed in the same way for 6-year-old refrigerant and new refrigerant. I haven't been able to find a single car (I've tried 6 different cars with old coolant) where the alkalinity/pH test deviates from pH 7.5. to test deviations. I found several different carriers with different concentrations and pH values determined by calibrated laboratory pH meters. My new results confirmed my initial results! The freezing/boiling accuracy (compared to a refractometer) is approximately plus or minus 20% if you include an estimated factor when attempting to match the colors. The pH values were once again completely unreliable! It also makes reserve alkalinity suspicious, but I haven't been able to verify that. Not a product I trust or recommend. All test strips in my original review and in this update have expired. I am changing my rating to one star as I cannot provide any evidence that this product is accurate or reliable.

Pros
  • Suitable for testing Propylene Glycol and Ethylene Glycol based automotive coolants
Cons
  • Not bad but...
