These descriptions may NOT be in the order of the photos.#1. This strainer sits next to the #2 3-inch strainer. This strainer sits on top of a 3-inch top strainer in a 10-ounce drinking cup. #3. This is the sieve over the drinking cup. #4. This is the sieve over the chawan. #5. The residue after sieving. #6. The depth of the bowl of this sieve. I needed a strainer to travel with, specifically for sifting matcha tea powder. The size is perfect, 2.5 inches, not too big and not too small. Easily fits in a travel bag, backpack, suitcase. Fits perfectly over a drinking cup or matcha bowl (chawan). I like the design of the bowl as more goes into the container. The handle and hooks make it pretty stable. It stays safe when I push the matcha through the sieve with the ladle (tyashaka). The mesh screen is very good. So good that it took a while to strain a teaspoon of the powder through a sieve. When I was done there was still some powder on the sieve. Matcha powder can be very expensive, so don't waste it. I rinsed the strainer with hot water from a cup to remove as much residue as possible. This is a bit disappointing as my 3 inch screen lets all the powder through with no residue. This isn't a problem, it just requires more attention to ensure you get all the powder you paid for. I like the sieve. I would recommend buying.
