The side of the groove snaps onto the top of the can and grips the can creating leverage. The attached bottle opener is great, you never need that until you find it and then get refilled in crisis mode because you need it and need it now. So an extra is always welcome. But the opener is excellent, hands and shoulder are very grateful to this gadget.
