A Tale of Two Mortar

PLEASE DEFINE WHAT TYPE OF MORTAR YOU HAVE BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT! If you have a hard, granular, pumice-type grout, you'll love the result. The color penetrates into the grout, which makes cleaning easier and ensures a smooth, even and consistent application. On the other hand, if you have a soft, smooth, stretchy, joint-like grout, you will most likely curse this product. It will look like your child literally painted the joints with a brush. The paint slides and smears across the grout making application and cleaning a nightmare. The finish will be striped and terrible. (I have both types and can confirm both.) Forget everything you know about colors, too; they play no role here. With these mortar pins, "white" is white. "Ivory" - white. "Gray" - light gray. "Beige" - yellow. God knows what "yellow" is, but I think it should be like a lemon. Colors other than white will not match the AT cap. EVERYONE. ALSO the pens are expensive. I have a fairly small bathroom (about 25 square feet) and it took me a whole pen to fill in the grout there. I was doing my second bathroom which is a bit larger (about 35 square feet) and I was running out about 85% of the "color". 3 stars because my first bathroom (grout) came out BEAUTIFUL but my second bathroom (soft grout) was horrible.
