ORIGINAL: I did a lot of research to find a magnetic car mount that would be the strongest because I have a large battery case around my phone which increases the weight drastically. This magnetic mount proved to be very durable. I have "iPhone 6 Plus Battery Case, Foxin 8000mAh Extended Battery Case Rechargeable Power Bank Charging Case for iPhone 6 Plus". I use it for my iPhone 6 plus (bigger/heavier). If you look at this suitcase or look at the photos I posted you can see how big the suitcase is and why I thought it might be too heavy for the magnet. I've been driving all day I've been making tight/fast turns to see if I could knock my phone off this mount and it didn't slide in any direction at all. Coincidentally, I nearly got into a freeway accident when the guy in front of me accelerated from 55mph to 10mph in about 1.5 seconds by hitting the brakes. I slammed on the brakes and hit myself hard on the shoulder. Things from my passenger seat hit the dashboard and fell to the ground, but the phone didn't slide or move. So the magnets used are as strong as any phone could ever need. The mount came with two metal plates (one large and one small) that had very sticky adhesive on the back. The small pins on the back of the bracket are very strong but can be bent with enough force. I bent mine a bit (trying to bend it on purpose), but I don't think a vent could bend it, or someone could have accidentally bent it. UPDATE: The vent mount wouldn't stay on the vent after about a week or two. I bought an adhesive version of the dashboard from the same company with the same magnet strength. The new dash mount is great, I have no complaints. Since the new mount is good, I chose not to remove the sprockets, but I do not recommend the vented version of this car mount.
