Review on πŸ” Fram CH9641 - High-Quality Passenger Car Oil Filter for Optimal Engine Performance by Zach Peterson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

XG9641 is what you need

I'm not usually a big Fram fan but this is the best filter I've found for my 2009 Mazda6. 2.5 per 179,000 oil change miles. It is the only material made from a rigid wire-based material. They also have a scalloped metal binding at the hem. Every other filter I've used tends to break down after about 5000 miles, whether made with a plastic support cage inside or not. This includes two other filters that Fram makes for this application. Motorcraft FL-2017B are the weakest of all and begin to fail well before factory drain intervals. The first photo shows a used Motorcraft next to a new Fram XG9641. XG9641 will not crack or warp at all after 8000+ miles.

Pros
  • Designed for everyday drivers who service their cars frequently
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
