I have to say I was disappointed in this product. I got it with hopes that I would be able to use them to hold backpacks so they weren't just thrown on the floor or taking up space on the furniture. I started with trying them out on my purse. I weighed it in at a little under 3 pounds. The magnet held, but if I added anything extra to my purse it started sliding down the fridge. I didn't have another metal surface to try it on right now. I got them to use on metal walls when we cruise. I tried to have my son hang up his school backpack, but the hook wouldn't even stay attached to the metal. It just fell right off. I looked through the Ebay listing and it says 12 pounds. I don't know if it is 12 pounds each or 12 pounds total. I'm now thinking total. I do have to say that the hooks look sturdy and were easy to put together. I'm still planning on taking them and using them as much as possible.
