Review on πŸ”₯ Dr. Ph. Martin's Iridescent Calligraphy Color Ink Bottle, Copper Plate Gold (11R) by Carla Anderson

True gold colour, opaque on light and dark backgrounds, waterproof

Again Dr. Ph Martin's does not disappoint! I've been using this mascara for about a year and now I'm a little over halfway through the bottle. The ink is golden in color, has a slightly raised texture when dry, and contains no shiny particles that make many gold inks look fake. I use these inks for both coloring and calligraphy (the main reason I use them) and was impressed by how smoothly they write with large and small nibs on both smooth and textured paper. This ink is not suitable for fountain pens and as all metallic inks require constant mixing when writing over a long period of time. So if you have a job with large envelopes I would recommend getting an ink stirrer so you don't waste time mixing the ink. If the ink looks dark brown and watery don't be surprised as this is normal with metallic inks which are usually floating pigments and particles. Just shake the bottle vigorously and voila! It is ready to use. I haven't experienced the ink getting moldy or smelling funny, and I use an eyedropper to apply the ink directly to the tips. If desired, the ink can also be transferred to a thin solution using a pipette. However, the hole is too small to dip the pen in, which is why its lid is an eyedropper and it's also not malleable. I must warn that when you press to empty the eyedropper, the eyedropper can clog as you detach the ink and spill ink on you, your table and your work. Therefore, when purchasing this product, be sure to keep the plunger and bottle neck clean. Finally, to remove the ink from the nibs, I use a 50% isopropyl alcohol solution and clean the nibs every few minutes and immediately after writing, as once dry they are almost impossible to remove even with acetone and dishes. Soap.
