broken - intermittent display LT - but fixable with soldering iron

We buy testers to help us find problems, not to magnify them. On the other hand, the device was designed in such a way that it can be easily disassembled for repair. From the looks of it, the LEDs are soldered onto a tiny circuit board that appears to have been soldered entirely by hand. One of the surface mount resistors was cold soldered. It looks like the person who soldered it wasn't very experienced or was moving too fast, not using enough flux and using too much solder. I touched up all the solder joints with an iron and some flux and everything worked fine after that. It was sporadic so obviously it was working when they tested it at the factory. but lousy soldering work. Luckily, I saw signs of trouble in reviews like this, so I knew in advance that if there was a problem, it could be a tester. I ended up testing the tester with two wires and noticed intermittent behavior.
