Electronics work perfectly, no annoying hum. The fan is also off most of the time and only turns on when it gets very hot. I'm powering a laptop (30W consumption) and a 24" LED screen (15W consumption) from a small off-grid solar array and it runs silently. I heard the fan turn on several times as it was a hot day. The only annoying thing is that the retail box is difficult to open. There's also no on/off switch, which probably keeps costs down, but you'll want to turn it off when not in use to avoid draining the battery.
