I have a good access point but I'm having problems. Firstly I have it in my car where it tends to stay charged (and doesn't work at all without a battery) but this causes the battery to overcharge and stretch. Also, I really don't want to use Wi-Fi when broadcasting my location, or others might want to use my connection even if I connect them via USB (which requires a custom driver to switch from a fake installation CD image) , then it doesn't charge and there are hiccups as I have to forward the port. Then if I forget to turn it off, sometimes my devices stay connected to mifi and not my home network, so I burn the data. Another issue (which I will review shortly) is the limited 4G coverage in my rural area with still plenty of 3G/EVDO, and tablets with built-in LTE only support LTE and have no 3G coverage. So I'd have to get a real smartphone and share (or tether) it, but then it becomes just another hotspot. Once properly plugged in, this device will automatically connect and function as if you were connected to Verizon's network through a standard Ethernet port. . It even works (yes!) on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 with an OTG adapter. Note that this doesn't work with Revain Fire tablets, but I can use a mobile hotspot if needed - I still use it for firewall and VPN. -MT300A Mini Travel Router), although I had to use some additional settings to make it use "eth1". It also appears to have a much better antenna, or at least better signal reception, than a Wi-Fi hotspot - there were lesser-known blackout zones and it works well with 3G/EVDO, although it does seem to require a bit more time to switch (and the LED turns red and the my.usb screen sometimes says it's disabled, but it's not). This is without an extension cord to plug in a better modem or external antenna! Another note, the LEDs are on all the time but they can be turned off, but the Wi-Fi had an OLED display so I had to keep pressing the button to see the status as it turned off after 2 minutes - the maximum on time. UPDATE 2 - There's a really good antenna. I tried another area where there are dead zones or usually in 3G and most of the time it stayed in 4G and in 3G areas the signal was much better. I think I have double or triple the range of a WiFi hotspot. UPDATE 3: When I use a powered hub, it stays connected to the wireless network even when I unplug my tablet, so I don't have to wait about 15 seconds for the network to take over. I can just plug it into a tablet or whatever and connect instantly. Other advantages: 1. He seems to be well built. 2. I can add an antenna over the port if needed (and I'm usually at the service edge), or I can use a longer USB cable to put the modem against a window. 100-200mA when connected to avoid draining the battery. I've tried a USB3.1 hub which can power the tablet and pass a small charging current to it, but then the MiFi doesn't show up (which it did after I turned off the power). Also, it doesn't show up as an ethernet port until it's connected or ready (on the my.usb page). It also doesn't show up as a SIMless ethernet port (mine was already enabled and working right now and the MyVerizon page showed that instead of the old hotspot.
