Swing and Miss, Fluval. The device acts as its own wireless hotspot. So if you want to buy one and connect it to a network to control your lights remotely, unfortunately that won't work. The device has great difficulty maintaining a connection directly above it, and even more so across the room, even removing interference from anything else in the room. (Yes, I literally unplugged every other electrical device in the room to see if that would improve performance. It didn't.) It also tends to lose its program randomly. If you ever forget your password or buy a used device and the password has been changed, you're out of luck. Its reset function is behind the password, so you're SOL if you don't have time to try 10,000 possible combinations until you find it. If you're looking for the sky effects this can give you in combination with plant growth, get the Fluval Plant 3.0 light instead, which can be controlled via Bluetooth (that also means you're actually interacting with or without your home Wi-Fi , and if you're into home automation, you can actually do remote control fairly reliably with a few other toys) and pair it with the Fluval Aquasky. Together they'll give you plant growth and sky effects, which it attempts but is hampered by its short list but fairly important flaws; and for only $70 more when you shop.
