Review on Soraken Floating Shelves: Rustic Wood Wall Storage for Kitchen and Bathroom - Set of 2 with Removable Towel Holder in Vintage Black by Matthew Guiney

Revainrating 1 out of 5

No instructions, super soft wood, bent iron, screws don't fit in the dowels, WOW!

Nothing good to say about these shelves, so many extra holes in the walls! The installation instructions are incorrect, there are no pre-drilled holes for the towel rail. When I pre-drilled the holes myself, I found that this wood is SO SOFT and no pre-drilling is really required. Just thread the screw into the wood, which of course means you have to be VERY careful not to damage the hole. There was no information on what size hole to drill for the anchors. So I sorted the anchors by size. I had to disassemble the base of the shelf so there was room to screw it to the wall. Very no play after installation! 2nd set of holes >.< Suppose I just made the holes too big for these particular anchors. But then when the dowel holes were barely big enough and the dowels had to be driven in carefully but surely, the screws didn't spread the dowels properly and it was still very loose and easily detached from the wall! It turns out that the screws are too small for the anchors provided, and the anchors don't extend around the screw head, just past the drywall. So no matter what, this shelf will be free! 3rd set of holes, >.< I had to use my own anchors which were smaller and actually extended around the head of the screw where the drywall actually is and also behind the drywall. Then I finally nailed them firmly to the wall and carefully pushed the shelves back in so as not to tear off any soft wood (mostly successfully) and I find that the metalwork is curved so the shelves lean forward a bit. *annoyed noises*
