I bought this unit 1 year ago. Has worked great until today. It always kept my batteries charged and I was happy with that. Today everything has changed. My setup has a switch between my batteries and the inverter to cut off power to my inverter so the batteries don't drain when not in use. When the switch was turned on today, a spark appeared in the charge controller and it caught fire. I haven't changed my settings in the last 10 months and it's been in constant use ever since. I don't know why it suddenly caught fire today. I'm just really glad we were there to put out the fire before it damaged my other gear. I would be very reluctant to purchase this product if it had shorted out and caught fire rather than blowing the built in fuse. Be very careful when installing this device if you intend to continue using it.
