Review on High Point RocketRAID 3530 PCI Express by Sean Perry

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great SOHO raid map! - Pour. The service sucks.

Pros: I've been using this card in RAID 10 with 8 x 1TB drives since 2011 and only 2 drives have failed in that time. In addition to the RAID, I also connected a 2 TB hard drive. The map will alert you when you're in trouble and there's also a very loud beep. Performance is excellent and the only bottleneck will be the hard drives themselves. Cons: The only downsides to this controller that I found while testing. A hot spare can sometimes corrupt a partition. Highpoint recommends only deleting and rebuilding the array while preserving the data. This is a bad recommendation from Highpoint because if you're using Win Server NTFS, you'll be prompted to reformat and you'll have to go to backups or use a recovery program to retrieve the data. - In short: I recommend sticking with a cold-swap BIOS rebuild to avoid this problem. HighPoint Customer Service Review: It takes them a day or two to respond to a business inquiry. The customer support team's knowledge of the RAID product and features seems rather limited. This means you won't get any valuable answers or assistance from their customer support team. In many cases, unless you're lucky enough to find someone who actually knows the product beyond the spec sheet, it's best to find out for yourself.
