Review on πŸ” Mityvac MVA6832 Auto-Refill Kit with Clamp-On Feature by Richard Edwar

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It works, but there are a few things to consider.

Overall this is a good machine and I would buy it again. That's probably exactly what you need, but please read on so you can learn from my experience. The first thing I didn't like. I strongly recommend not using adapters to dispense brake fluid directly from a retail bottle. That's why. Includes a pair of adapters for standard brake fluid bottles. I used one on a fresh new bottle of brake fluid and immediately regretted it. You unscrew the adapter and then push it into the valve assembly. Then turn the bottle and assembly upside down on the master cylinder reservoir and open the valve to pour out the brake fluid and begin the flushing process. Everything should work fine, but the brake fluid bottle I bought only had two threads and didn't make a good seal or secure connection to the adapter. Although the valve was still closed, air leaked around the inadequate seal and brake fluid leaked around the adapter as soon as I turned the cylinder/adapter assembly upside down. I tried to tighten the bottle, but just holding on to two threads, it broke off completely and brake fluid squirted in all directions. I rushed into cleaning mode and fortunately didn't damage the paintwork. Avoid all this nightmare unless you are sure you can get a good print. My bottle didn't have a cross thread; there just wasn't enough thread for a good seal. I found the best approach was to just pour new brake fluid into the bottle that came with it. it seals well with the adapter and you can move on without panicking. The second thing I didn't like is that while they include two caps for the bottle that comes with them, they only include an o-ring. One of the caps is used during the dosing/flushing process and the other I believe is for sealed storage of unused liquid. But if you only have one o-ring you'll have to swap it between tops, which doesn't make sense to me. I just recycled the leftover liquid - not much is left anyway, most was on my garage floor - see "first" above :-)

Pros
  • Quality workmanship
Cons
  • Hard to say
