I had a set of old school tires that originally came on Chicago Schwinn cruisers in the late 70's/early 80's and needed to replace them . First I tried tires of the same type with the same tread pattern, namely Blackwall Duro HF-851. Little did I know there would be such a big difference between worn and new tires - the new tires had so much rolling resistance compared to the old worn tires that I felt like I was riding uphill all the time. I'm not criticizing Duro tires - I just don't think they were designed for 20-mile commutes every day. I bought Schwalbe tires based on other reviews. At first I hated the way they looked on my cruiser but after riding them I don't pay much attention to the looks anymore because they roll much more freely and pedal so much easier that it feels like a completely different experience. Now if I could find the same tires in Blackwall without the reflective tape that would be even better.
