In the last two years I have bought four Microsoft branded controllers for between $40 and $80. They all showed analog stick failure within a few weeks of purchase. In some games it doesn't matter, but if you're an FPS addict, joysticks that drift or have dead zones will completely ruin the experience. So after Microsoft failed four times in a row, I decided to save money. This joystick replaced my dedicated Halo controller which lost its ability to "go backwards" after just a month of use. My only complaint about the Rock Candy controllers is that they are a bit smaller than the MS controllers, so accessories like the chat pad don't work with them. She. Ever since I got into PC gaming I haven't found this to be a huge problem as I have a keyboard handy. You can actually disassemble it and solder in your own LEDs, but you'll also need to add current-limiting components as those are absent from this model as well. The circuit board is the same. This controller also does not rumble. I'm not interested in this feature as I feel it adds little to the gaming experience, consumes excessive power from the USB port and can cause the sticks to vibrate prematurely. But then again, if you disassemble a dead controller and solder motors in, you might find that they work too. I now have three of these controllers. Only one failed; The right bumper (the bumper itself, not the switch inside) broke when the controller was dropped, causing the bumper to "stick in the on position" from time to time.
