I wanted to use a good quality non-toxic dye on a new pair of organic cotton jeans. I bought two pairs of taupes and thought I could dye one a chocolate brown. I used VERY warm to hot water and lots of dye according to directions and even left it on for over an hour. They appeared darker when I rinsed them out, it didn't seem like too much color had been washed off, but once dried they were a bit darker than the original taupe, definitely not brown. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I see the directions saying to add salt and soda(?) but I didn't have them. The seller had to state this in their promotional materials as their paint itself was worthless.
