Review on KA-BAR Black Fighting Knife - Model 2-1211-6 by Lynn Cole

You can't go wrong here.

Excellent American knife. Proud owner of an Ontario SP-1 and now this beautiful Ka-Bar 1211. Both are made in America from 1095 carbon steel, the blades are mostly identical in shape and length, however the Ontario blade feels a little thicker. The fit and finish of the Ka-Bar is slightly better, but the SP-1 costs about twenty dollars less and is just as well made, durable, and comfortable to use. Both nice knives. Ka-Bar wins because of the sheath. It comes with a leather case, at least the one I bought anyway, but you can get a really nice hard case for it for about $15, and that makes it perfect for me. The sheath that comes with the SP-1 isn't great, but it works. I bought a hard case because I read a review that said it would fit the SP-1, which it did, but not by much. Since I already had the scabbard, I went ahead and took the ka-bar. Excellent purchase. If you've been trying to decide between this KA bar and the Ontario SP-1, you can't go wrong with either. Both are excellent in my opinion. The Ka-Bar is a bit prettier but more expensive, while the SP-1 is cheaper but no worse than a knife. However, you'll probably want to get a Kydex sheath for it.
