Pros: - Hardware. For the price, the hardware specs are very good and the overall quality seems very good too. I like the slim profile but it worries me when my son uses it. Disadvantages: white spots on the display are washed off. Instead of white, it's more of a soft white, similar to the soft white light from an incandescent bulb. I'll try changing the settings to see if this can be fixed. Update: I found this to be just a setting meant to reduce eye strain at night. - An error occurred several times when setting up the tablet. The same goes for setting up the Lenovo child account. In fact, it crashed every time I created a new child profile. Confusing installation process. During installation, a dozen apps/services tried to install at the same time, resulting in one popup after another interrupting the installation of the active app/service I was trying to deal with. For example, when setting up Alexa, I was constantly interrupted by several other services, such as the Google Assistant. My Lenovo Kids account kept telling me that I entered the wrong parent code when trying to upload an app to a child's profile. I reset the code 3 times to fix it but still said the wrong code. I ended up deleting the profile and creating a new one and that seemed to work. In kid mode, Alexa keeps popping up and saying "Alexa isn't available in kid mode" or something like that. I can understand the one time notification but it does it all the time. - Many pre-installed apps cannot be uninstalled, resulting in 60% of internal storage being used right out of the box. - Hangouts will NOT stop popping up with the "SMS is no longer supported" notification popup. Considering it's a tablet and not a phone, I don't understand why. Unfortunately, Hangouts cannot be uninstalled and the only way to turn off the notification is to install a different SMS app to change the default app as well. Again, this is NOT a phone. Update: I was eventually able to disable notifications for the app but still couldn't disable or uninstall it. The lock screen activates randomly when you use the tablet. When the tablet is docked and you switch between child mode and main profile, it tries to reconnect to the dock via Bluetooth. There's nothing wrong with that per se, but instead of doing it in the background, it behaves like it's reconnecting for the first time. As a result, a pop-up window for connecting to the docking station will appear, occupying the screen. - Installed a 128GB Samsung SD card and decided to expand the internal storage to the SD card using adaptive memory. After formatting the card, the memory shows 246 GB, currently 131 GB is occupied. Honestly, this is an error related to the Android OS, not Lenovo. Unfortunately, this only reduced the currently occupied internal memory by 200 MB. Unfortunately, the SD card is disabled every day, which requires a reboot. I ended up restarting the tablet to avoid adaptive memory. Many applications still fail to install because pre-installed software that cannot be uninstalled takes up so much internal memory. Despite a bumpy start and an issue with the SD card, I can say that it's stable and the expanded storage has helped improve performance. Putting the Minis into Alexa Show mode works pretty smoothly. My biggest complaint right now is the lack of custom bumpers.
