Review on πŸ”Œ BX88294 Bypass Switch by Blue Ox by Brian Schultz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Beautifully colored instructions look perfectly professional even for an old beginner

Fits a 2013 GMC Acadia Denali. I had never installed an aftermarket radio before so I was a little worried about messing it up but I did everything immaculately following the detailed instructions with color pictures. The hardest part was removing the outlet cover. I used small wedge shaped plastic standoffs left lying around after installing the floating floor to carefully remove the faceplate. The next tricky part was choosing a drill bit to install the switch - I bought a forstner bit and used a high speed drill bit to drill a hole in the plastic bushing. The switch was solid and I found that simply screwing it in was more effective than pushing it in. After that I made a tunnel under the carpet with a long screwdriver to be able to slide the wiring harness through freely. The seat belt blades fit snugly into the fuse holder, but overall it only took a few minutes to insert all 4 blades. There's no on or off marking, but somehow I managed to set the rocker switch according to the instructions, but even setting it the other way around doesn't allow you to mess with its functionality. I used a Dymo label printer to mark the drive and tow locations. Installing the rear console cover and bezel cover was easy, just follow the detailed instructions and take your time. Overall it took me less than 2 hours. It could have been quicker if I was more familiar and used to disassembling plastic car parts, but I wanted it to look like it was done by a pro and it works just as well as it does!

Pros
  • Safe design requires fuse bypass switch to be located as close to fuse panel as possible
Cons
  • No instructions
