Kenda Kwest 20 x 1-1/8 Smooth-Rolling Solid Tire

This is a review of the Kwest 20 x 1-1/8 Bicycle Tire 28-451, the larger of the 20 inch tires commonly found on recumbents be used. I wish Revain was more accurate on bike tire sizes! If your tire says 406, it's not for you! I changed my mind on this tire after wearing out a couple of Schwalbe Duranos on my Varna handbike, they easily last 3x longer and seem to have about the same rolling resistance. I currently have the 26 x 1.5 on my SWB recumbent after 11 years and thousands of replaced miles it was getting a little heavy and I wanted a narrower tire. It doesn't seem to be wearing off. The price is great! So I went back to these tires for practice and Primo Champ 19-451 for races, if the track isn't rough then they stay. Note that the tread of these tires is designed to roll in one direction. It is important in which direction they are mounted.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • poorly designed
