On the plus side, it's as easy to set up as you'd like. The range seems to be more than sufficient for listening at home, I didn't notice any dropouts or background noise. He's pretty small. It emits a short burst of beep when it connects or disconnects, and since it has an auto-connect feature, I find it best to tell my iPhone to "forget" the device when I'm listening and a establish connection. Device again when I want to use it again. Auto shut off doesn't work. Small inconveniences. So the reason for the mediocre rating is that the sound quality just isn't great. This is normal for background music, and to be honest some simple instrumental music (like solo piano) can sound pretty good, but other material, especially vocal material, can sound pretty rough. I know BT has limitations but (like a dog walks on two legs) it's great that he can do what he does for twenty but he doesn't do it very well. I plan to return it and will come back to this review after trying a different device. Added later: Finally set to Audioengine B1. Much more expensive, but much better sound, much less awkward handling and solid workmanship. The device I bought was refurbished but indistinguishable from new. Purchased from Audioengine.
