Most likely it will not work on small insects like fruit flies and mosquitoes. But it works great on flies and wasps. Doesn't always kill wasps, but stuns them long enough to be stepped on. The reason this model works so well is because there is no protective shielding on live wires. This allows small insects to easily slip through. The Zapper I also have is not as effective against large insects as the Executioner because it has a protective wire surface on both sides protecting the wire mesh inside. So larger insects get on the outer protective wires and are not small enough to get through them into the "execution zone"! You might want to consider one of each; one for small insects and one for larger insects. Whatever you buy, get the largest size available.
