Works great but the base is all lacquered brass. This would be the ideal antenna if made of brass as this is where the wind load puts the most stress on the antenna. No complaints in terms of functionality. It receives and transmits very well on our UHF repeater. UPDATE: It looks like the bottom is actually some kind of metal with paint on it. It's better IMHO. Also, I finally installed the meter on the antenna and it's a perfect match of 1.0 at 462.650MHz, which is what our repeater is using for the output. The repeater delivers 6.6 watts on low settings on the third floor of a building and has phenomenal range. How the antenna withstands external influences, time will tell. So far, internal performance is well above expectations. I am changing my rating to 5 stars. For the price, this antenna is hard to beat.
