Low SWR on GMRS and Good Transmit/Receive Range

Low SWR on GMRS and good reception and transmission range. Simply coat with clear coat and it will last a long time in inclement weather.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Unfashionable

If this antenna works for your application, great.

This antenna is very good because of its relatively narrow bandwidth. We used it for a 461MHz signal at 2W and were very surprised with the performance. You must be sure that you are operating in the 450-470MHz band.

Pros
  • Several competitors

Hard to beat for the price. Great single antenna!

Works great but the base is all lacquered brass. This would be the ideal antenna if made of brass as this is where the wind load puts the most stress on the antenna. No complaints in terms of functionality. It receives and transmits very well on our UHF repeater. UPDATE: It looks like the bottom is actually some kind of metal with paint on it. It's better IMHO. Also, I finally installed the meter on the antenna and it's a perfect match of 1.0 at 462.650MHz, which is what our repeater is usingโ€ฆ

  • Confident

  • Security

Looks and feels good, worked well.

I don't have any fancy equipment to measure signal power or quality. But I connected it and the ping went fine. This is enough to send and receive DMR data for the SCADA system. Now I use three with no problems. The first one I bought has been running without problems for a year and a half. The build quality seems to be good.

Pros
  • Unity Gain
Cons
  • Clarity

Hard to beat for the price. Great single antenna!

Works great but the bottom is just lacquered brass. This would be the ideal antenna if made of brass as this is where the wind load puts the most stress on the antenna. Functionally I have no complaints Receives and transmits very well on our UHF repeater UPDATE: Looks like the bottom part is actually some kind of metal with paint on it It's a perfect match of 1.0 at 462.650MHz which our repeater uses Exit. The repeater outputs 6.6 watts on low settings on the third floor of a building andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Height 26 inches
Cons
  • Something else

I bought this antenna for a basic GMRS antenna that covers two frequency bands: 462MHz (simplex frequency) and 467MHz (duplex frequency for repeaters). You can't tune this antenna, but the standard SWR was 1.2 and 1.3 respectively. There is no gain, which is good for most situations and especially GMRS! I like the reviewer who uses it as a mobile antenna in his wooden shield truck. This is actually a great use for this antenna and he said he struggles with higher gain antennas in the mountains.

Pros
  • 1/4 wave
Cons
  • Big and bulky
