Ok this is going to be a very good review as this is the first of these models I am getting. I chose this first one because it was the cheapest that had fans. I have an upgraded laptop and it can get quite hot so I needed fans although there is one manufacturer that claims they don't need fans due to the vents on the main platform. I'm not buying it even though I ordered it without fans, starting again with the cheapest. I haven't received it yet as it is shipped from China and takes 3 to 8 weeks. I'll review it once I've used it for a while to clarify, whether fans are needed or not. I just think fans should at least help, and why not? It was only $8 more. While we're talking about fans, I've noticed that a lot of people have asked if the fans exploded at the base of the platform or away from it. This unit was not fully assembled, but the fans were attached to the platform. These are blown into the laptop but they are very easy to remove and I rotated them so they draw heat down and away from the bottom of my computer. I think it's better to get rid of the heat it gives off. It also made the fans quieter, not that they were too loud initially, but you could hear them quite clearly on or around the device. Now I can't hear her at all, I had to be careful to make sure they were turned on. In doing so, it also toggles the switch on and off so that it faces you as if you were sitting and not away from you under your back. Now it's a lot easier to turn them on or off, so that's a plus too, as is the orientation of the USB connector on the back, at least for my main PC since my USB ports are near the back of the Laptops are on the right. Side. My other laptop is the same brand but a different model. The USB ports on it are on the front right, while the 2.0 port, which I actually only use for my wireless mouse dongle, is on the left, roughly in the middle. The cable that comes with it extends well enough, but the way this device is assembled is such, that the upper leg hinges are in the front, closest to the user, and it can get pinched there, so if you have ports that are close to your seating position. to the stand It would be wise to follow that. The USB cable that comes with the end that plugs into the computer to power the fans, but the end that plugs into the fan case is a round plug, similar to the power cord that comes in many laptops, including mine both laptops, is plugged in. I haven't looked for a suitable replacement yet, but you can't just grab a spare mini-USB from a phone or other device that might be lying around somewhere. Both of my PCs are 15.6" Dells. One is a traditional laptop 15-3567 and the other is a 2-in-1 convertible with a 360° hinge, 15-7586. about half an inch back so I don't think a much larger laptop would work well on it. Delivery was quick, it arrived the next day. I ordered another one at the same time and my tracking number says whats at least another week maybe more maybe up to 6 so thats a big difference apart from the missing fans on the other side. It came in a brown box with no indication of what it was. It didn't bother me as with a lot of cheap finds I usually get what I pay for and fancy packaging that just ends up in the bin doesn't do me any good anyway so yeah save it. for people who care whoever they are Moving on, the box had the main platform, two leg assemblies, a mouse mount, and a plastic case with front bumpers that keep the laptop or whatever you're carrying on it from sliding off the front of the platform and possibly kneeling. Thumbwheel screw, and a large plastic washer to attach the mouse platform to the leg. You can technically attach it from either side, but the threaded hole that you screw the wheel into on the inside of the leg isn't symmetrical in the mouse mount, so it's a bit farther from the user when attached on the left side, so i have to say that although both legs have holes for it, it is primarily intended for attachment to the right leg. And it would be really impossible on the left side, you would just have to go back a bit. However, I just took mine off because it's too small to be effective unless you have the lowest dpi settings on your mouse, if you even have an adjustable dpi mouse. Also it's a very smooth surface with a slight protrusion and the mouse doesn't like staying on it even if it's flat. It has no padding, just a hard plastic surface. You can cut a standard mouse pad to size, but the stand wobbles a bit when typing and I don't always have a flat device, so the mount is unusable for me. Now that I said the device shakes when I type, remember I type a lot, I seem to press the keys fairly firmly and with some force, so it has a lot to do with how I'm typing. I wouldn't say the stand is wobbly, but not very stable either. It didn't fall on me or anything, it just bounces around a bit when I type. I think it doesn't take much to break legs. I wouldn't call them fragile but they are ABS plastic and not very thick so they don't have much rigidity and, probably won't take long before it breaks down. The adjustment mechanisms are a bit fiddly and it takes a minute to learn how to move things to find your sweet spot. So if you move it around and change positions and configurations frequently, it can be a problem. Use an example. I only use mine when I'm lounging on or near the couch and don't need to tweak it much, so it suits me. However there are many ways to set this thing up, all 6 buttons can move 360° including the platform but the mouse mount won't work in all possible settings and it won't work. t folds into a fully flat position with attached as the thumbwheel screw prevents the legs from collapsing. Also, the lower legs have no adhesion to them, so the device will slide on a smooth surface like my coffee table if you're not careful. I went to the hardware store and bought a rubber foot cane. Overall I think this is a good block for the most part. There aren't many options for a device that can do what it can. A few minor design/construction flaws but nothing I can't fix and certainly nothing that makes me want to return it. All in all, after a few tweaks and modifications, I'm mostly happy with it, and I don't have a place to abuse it, so it will work for me. If you're expecting something very high quality I'd say keep looking, maybe something from Tiffany with fancy packaging is more for you, but if you're looking for a cheap device to do what it does and I don't mind playing around with it a bit, so far it's been the way to go for me. Oh, and I probably wouldn't let kids try to sit on it. I plan to buy some "higher" (more expensive) devices to see if there is a big difference between them so keep an eye on them and if I have any other information about it. I will definitely post updates. so far that was the way for me. Oh, and I probably wouldn't let kids try to sit on it.
